Rent a DSLR?

I would consider renting this if I had to:

Sony A7S R3 with a SONY 24-70MM lens.

How to check everything is okay at time of renting? I am not very familiar with dslr so wanted to get some hand on experience before buying any.

In order to check if everything is okay, you need some experience with DSLR cameras. No way around it. I'd strongly suggest you to try mirrorless cameras, they're quite good.
