yesss.i did...its very easy...u just have to enable ur lan card...i guess its automatically activated while booting pc.if it doesnt start then try these.dhcpcdifconfig eth0 updhcpcd eth0and check if u got ip..by ifconfig /allthen as usual start web browser, ui will get login screen.i have tried with ubuntu live cd.,slackware live cd, slax live cd..right now i m using it in suse...10.3

I couldn't connect to the net because the wimax connection gets linked to the MAC address. (I guess BSNL also has a similar problem). Now, I switch on the antenna only after I connect the ethernet cable, and then I can log in!

Its a dual boot ... I think the attaching to NIC card should not be a problem .....Somebody please help

U said kip trying I mean can u tell me how much time I tried a decent 10 times .. is latency playing some foul play m getting desperate 2 use net with linux.Does it work after some time and something like dat

u said u got ip and firefox is not showing the login page then check the network setting in firefox...disable any proxies availabel there if any.

what did u use i mean which Ubuntu live CD I used 7.10 ie Gutsy GibbonNow m getting more issues ... could not even get an IP address now.this is my logpradeep@Swaastik:~$ ifconfigeth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr XXXXXXXXXXXXXX UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:101 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:85 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:30143 (29.4 KB) TX bytes:19194 (18.7 KB) Interrupt:17 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:1464 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:1464 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:122533 (119.6 KB) TX bytes:122533 (119.6 KB)pradeep@Swaastik:~$ sudo dhcpcd eth0Error, eth0: timed outI started the antenna after insertion of the plug bfore etc etcI hope some thing works out now

Got some success like thingI used dhcpcd-bin instead of dhcpcd and started getting the IP again. Also I changed my NW connection to "Set to Roaming" from "DHCP" which I had changedI disabled the IPv6 in Firefox and the search for the reliance site actually went for sometime unlike earlier cases when its just said website not found.My machine did manage to get some data as well I saw dat from the NW MonitorBut the bottom line was same ... Finally could not connect ....Oh how desparate I have bcome ...

Hi Sharad can u please give me the log of ifconfig on Ubuntu after u have connected to internet.Also plz tell which live CD were u using and which is ur Ethernet CardWaiting 4 reply ... Thanks

Finally fixed the problem... The issue was avahi daemon... it was assigning a IPv6 addr to my eth0 ...So I brought it down using sudo /etc/init.d/avahi-daemon stopthen used sudo ifconfig eth0 downsudo ifconfig eth0 upbasically restart ur eth0then u may use ( I dont think its necessary)sudo dhcpcd eth0 if u got an IPchk ifconfig again u should get a IPv4 addrDats it click ur browser n de dana dan Remove the link of avahi from /etc/init.d to stop it from coming up at bootCheers Happy Hackin
