Would this phone sell faster in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities?

no wifi tethering 🙁

Yikes. Well I suppose we wouldn't have to worry about 2G spectrums, because once this gets launched, most of the users will ens up with 2G data speeds anyways. JIO's speeds are already pretty low, shudder to think the damage that would be done when their is a mass influx of new users post the launch of the 1500 Rs VOLTE phone. Guess I will have to switch back to Vodafone/Airtel.

The TechPP article claims the price will be 1500.
One thing is sure, it will go the Jiofi way . . . .. . . the phone will be locked to Jio and bundled with 6 months/1 yr free usage. :emoji_carrot:

Other ISPs, specially wireline, are going to take a big hit on voice income as Jio will grab most of the small users who use only voice. Probably a few voice only plans will be launched.

Very difficult to compete with a cheap phone.
Data prices will fall further as that is the only remaining area to compete in.

would be a good disposable phone. they really should have restricted it to voice and sms. using a crippled smartphone os seems like a stupid move.

There is no chance of monopoly, but the phone launch at the runored 500 will capture the lion's share of voice users who don't need or use data.
I was paying landline rental of 150 + broadband plan + calls = approx 1000

Today the whole package is available for 150 on wireless
Who won't take it ?

Bsnl just reduced their UL broadband plan price by 50%, guess why ?

If Jio can price at Rs.500, others will bring in something at similar range. They will not be able to get more market share because network will become congested (it is already!). Even govt can not favour too much otherwise someone will complain as per Competition Act.

At best, all other small players will merge and handful of companies will be left out (Jio, Airtel, Vodafone/Idea and BSNL).

Big brother never gives importance to quality of service/customer support (Have extensively used all of his B2C offerings for decades). There is no way he will change that for Jio. It is simply not in his blood. Without that he will not be able to play for long term.

What we, the customers, can do is to enjoy the freebies and subsidised tariff as long as it lasts.

Why do you think 2G will be withdrawn?

2G is the only network which comes inside the house as 3G and 4G is clear fail in giving good network inside houses.

It is a very common problem with the residential area of Delhi which are build just at zero level (ground level).

New housing/construction or new societies have better networks but for the old housing and society which are just on the ground level are facing this network issues.

Only 2G comes and that is also at the window (not even inside home). 3G and 4G comes as no service.
