Reliance Big TV gets cheeky with Airtel teaser

The number of DTH (Direct to Home) players is increasing, and along with price cuts, the industry is responding by upping the advertising stakes. Now, Reliance-backed Big TV has busted Airtel’s DTH pre-launch teaser in a big way.
Over the last couple of weeks, viewers have witnessed a 10 second TV commercial of a luxurious red sofa with a montage and a voice over saying "Come back home... soon". There was no company name, no logo or any indication of the promoter, but the campaign was rumoured to be a teaser released by Bharti Airtel, which launched its DTH service on Tuesday.
But Big TV has turned this to its advantage, and has released its own advertisement, which shows the same red sofa and ends with the same voiceover - but with the Big TV logo. It has also added unique Big TV features like 32 Cinemas, 200+ channels and MPEG 4 technology for digital quality audio and video.
The move may compensate for Big TV's Not so Big launch. Competition has just begun and is bound to intensify soon with Airtel's launch.
