In this excerpt from the Independent Lens film Real Boy, trans teen Bennett, formerly Rachael, argues with his mother Suzy about what it means to be transgender. "I'm literally a boy born with the wrong body parts," he explains. But Suzy just cannot let go of the daughter she knew or fully embrace the idea of having a son. We see home movie footage of Bennett as a little girl excitedly receiving a suit jacket as a gift. And Suzy expresses surprise at how fast the physical transformation can happen.
