So i was wondering.

Airtel has become PAN 4G across India while holding Spectrum license for 3G & 2G. So if anybody buys 4G ready Sim today, he will get connectivity even if his phone doesn't support 4G. Airtel will simply provide him connectivity on 2G and/or 3G Bands which are compatible to his phone.

But RJio doesn't have this thing. So anybody taking RJio 4G SIM will not get any connectivity whatsoever if their phone is not 4G compatible. Am i right?

I think its a big problem for RJio. RJio's business model is completely dependent on customers intent to buy new generation 4G phones. Until RJio itself provide affordable 4G phones, it cannot be successful. And i don't think people are willing to spend upfront on phones just to migrate to 4G which is an uncharted territory (Data rates are expensive, coverage is limited & other problems).

Only way to beat this problem is extensive tie up with RCom to share 2G and 3G Bands as well. I think RJio is stuck into a limbo without it.

Please share your opinion.

Rjio will be fail if so , and no one will buy there 4g , there 3g has been sucking up here for a year now , surfing is really really bad now , 2 years ago i used to get marvelous speed , but i think they did some shit and now its worst , also they started giving 3g to aircel here and aircel too has similarly worst speeds in 3g . i just hope rjio provides good fup plans with minimum of 1 mbps post fup if they want customers or users wont be spending bucks on buying a 4g phone then there costly 4g with 2g speeds of post FUP.
