Please Help - Port Forwarding on 300R2U

I have an MTNL 300R2U modem with WRT54G2 router, and I for the life of me am not able to port forward on my connection. I have tried everything. through virtual server, DMZ, tweaking DHCP, bridge mode. After trying all this, now I am even more confused.Can somebody please give me step by step instructions to start from scratch.Please help this poor soul.Thanks.
