Hi guys, i am new here and I read in some threads where people post some statistics about their like something like rate, snr and then you say whether xx mbps plan will work or not. Can you please tell me whether a 4mbps plan will work for my line? Here are the details which I could easily find:
Line rate (down,up) kbps: 2048,512
Attainable rate(down,up) kbps: 3840,968

Also tell me how to check other details which people post or you need? I have D-Link 2750u modem.

Also please tell me what speed we should get for 2mbps plan, because I get around 1.6-1.7mbps, it is correct or wrong?

I am waiting for a reply. Please help someone.

Pls give the stats as X720 has mentioned. From what you have shown you are still synced at 2048. You should be synced at 4096 down & 1024 up. Also mention which cpe you are using

Hi, I have a D-Link 2750u modem which has 4 ethernet ports, 1 usb port and wifi too.
I am living in Vikhroli (W) and my telephone exchange is Powai exchange which is about 1-1.5km from my home. Currently I have a 2mbps plan, but I wish to take 4mbps plan as they look better at similar cost.

1) Please check and suggest whether I should upgrade:
These are the values as requested (in the form- downstream, upstream):
SNR Margin (0.1 dB): 111,169
Attenuation (0.1 dB): 330, 183
Output Power (0.1 dBm): 186, 122
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 4992, 855
Line Rate (Kbps): 2048, 509

2) Is getting 1.6-1.7 mbps download speed and 0.4 mbps upload correct for 2mbps plan ?

3) Also I keep on losing connection few times in a day and when I run diagnostics test in modem it shows, Ping default gateway and Ping primary dns failed. Why this might be so? I have tried using google and open dns too apart from mtnl. But when I lose connection, it takes 10-15 mins or more mostly to get it back after rebooting the modem(sometimes it comes in 2-3 mins).

Line quality is bad. At an SNR of 11dB, you are likely to face sync issues, given mtnl's lines 😀

Yes. 1.6-1.7 is standard on 2 mbps plans. Search the forums on how to troubleshoot poor line quality. Loads of threads.

So sir, please tell me should I take 4mbps plan?. Also, I am getting this stats after mtnl people changed some tag in my line for my connection, before that it never connected, so I don't think they are going to help much now. Currently snr down is 10. Please suggest.
