I have connected line to ADSL modem which outputs to my Belikin Wireless router and at my laptop using wirelessly to connect. Now the problem comes. Ping to any domain from cmd prompt works fine. I see reply responses but when I try opening the same domain in brower it wont.

Only site works to me www.bsnl.co.in Please help. I am using Vista. I found something related to it on Microsoft site and copied that info at very bottom. I am frustated as I am getting no where from past 3 days 🙁. any help in this would be much much appriciated.
Thanks
Mahen

Ok, I think I am nearing the problem. The defalt Gateway IP 117.195.160.1 is coming from the stored within the router. Under advanced settings->Router-> I am trying to uncheck the IP settings where we supply ip addressed instead choosed Enable automatic assigned IP for gateway but looks its always taking up the one previously stored. I tried to clear that ip and selected automatic option and saved . rebooted the router but again same issue. 🙁

117.195.160.1 belongs to BSNL and not sterlingstudent !

1.please confirm you got New ID and password JUST to check your usage(Different to registration ID and PW for Dataone)
2. And the website where you check with your ID and PW ( new ?)
3. Whether DQUF works ? sunish.net | - Thinkings of a tinker who thinks he's a thinker

Thanks .

Well, it turned out to be a uid/password issue. Lesson learned when your modem diagnostics link shows all status GREEN and pinging to any domain works but content is not opened in brower its uid/pwd issue. I used a test uid/pwd taken from technician while installion and was trying with that intially. So it wasnt working.

Though quite frustated with dealing BSNL for uid/pwd I finally approached their higher up DE (External) at my local exchange and he resolved the issue in flat 2 mins by making few calls from his office and helped getting my credential details on spot. Big thanks to that gentleman (Mr. Gandhi) at Erragadda Exchange. AND BIG THANKS TO 'ESSBEBE' (forum member) who posted detailed screen shot which helped me in all configurations.

Overall I am very much satisfied with the speed of net.
