One of my friend's dad had a old Nokia 7610. The phone finally gave up today. He called me up & asked me is their any way to back up contacts stored on the phone. All contacts are in the phone memory. Anyone ?
well it should not be impossible but what you are seeking is sort of forensic shit. you would have to take apart the phone and locate the memory module and use it to extract the data. you might have some luck going to some specialized mobile market like gaffar in delhi. but it would probably a futile exercise.

hehe. . yeah . .forensic shit. . I'll ask him to go to some specialized market. . Delhi will be too far for him 🙂
If the contacts are REALLY important then take it to Nokia Care.Don't take it to the local repair guys, they will screw it even more as it's an ancient phone.

Yeah ! Contact's are too important. His Dad is a Director in some government department. I too suggested him to go to some nokia store. Maybe they would workout something.

i think the first thing nokia guys do is to format your phone. 😛
at last u can try as what admin suggested. take to a good local shop they will try by taking out the memory chip and placing it in another phone. As the phone is not submerged or physically damaged i assume the chips will be intact. You can try at a Nokia care but i am sure they will not be able to retrieve anything, there job will be limited to starting the phone again.
@Jayant it is possible to extract data from a dead phone. Since it's a symbian phone the chances are higherBest option for you is go to gaffar market. There are some good repair shops there which can help you, but it will be expensive.
This was the only thread i found relating to issue on Nokia phones.......my N78 is slowly dying out. Most of the SMSes i get, come as twins. While the SMSes that i send, bluntly refuse to leave the Outbox!!In short, i am not able to use the main "Service" that i literally abused till now!
