Pathetically High Pings

I live in Indore and BSNL SUCKS for me as I am a online gamer and the pings are pathetic:wall:
Look here are the results, all performed in the same time frame. Notice the pings.

I dont really trust Speedtest.net. I feel the website is half fake for example the global tests to date counter. It just goes on in a rhytmic manner even if u turn off your internet. It has gotten such publicity just because of its flashy interface. I included it because many people here use it...

hello m8,i am an online gaming fanatic myself,and i would suggest that if you have MTNL in your area then dont go for anything else as i believe MTNL has lower ping among various ISP's,if not then go for Airtel but please note that you would need a faster connection,idealy at least 1mbps to play online games,256 or 512kbps speeds wont give you a low ping even if it is MTNL. Also MTNL is not perfect either but IMO it is better than others😉

thank you for concerning about my request. I am facing this problem from last 3-4 months.
actually problem is within your P3 network ( which I m currently using at my home ), may be need to replace a router, it is giving very high latency in day time ( about 800ms-1000ms ) while there is high traffic. and in night time about 360ms- 500ms.

while old P2 network seems working fine ( I have P2 network at my cafe ). I am attaching screenshots of P2 and P3 network's ping data here again. so you can easily compare results !

Dont take this lightly , latency is very imp. factor for online gaming. so please kindly fix this problem soon as possible. Also many other sites' latency is higher on this route.

ok, theres an adsl splitter but I didnt think that would make much a difference or would it?😱

My plan is 256 UL one. And I have optimized my MTU using TCPOptimizer, isn't that what you are suggesting to do from drTCP?

Just like amit I also have noticed that the latency increases drastically during the day time when there is traffic and mine go off-charts as you can see :madness::wall:. I played my fps game in the morning(8:30 - 10) and I was amazed to find no lag at all🙂(which I was having since a month). Just an hour later the lag is back🙁:frown:
I assume thats because most offices open and ppl go to work after 10....

So what does it mean?..
BSNL is overcrowding its servers and therefore deteriorating the quality. And they dont care to install new servers as most users only use internet for browsing and therefore the huge increase in latency and slight decrease in speed does not affect them.....sigh

A year ago I had airtel 64 kbps and used to get lower pings and smooth gameplay
1.Why not try/test NETONE Dialup free internet usage till Oct 31st? 56Kbps speed.
2. Your connection 256Kbps , if shared with four users ( contention ratio) will be 64 Kbps
3.Mention your modem Model .
4. what is the line speed and mod selected/
5. ADSL splitter is used to block low freq telephone voice , entering
your modem . If your phones works without hissing noise
when you use BB, and your connection is stable, why spend another Rs 50 to Rs 100/= . Normally supplied by the ISP free.
6.Only GLB502T has a built in filter I think. not sure.
 
I aslo plaing online (WoW) and have low ping. It is 300ms minimum, but mostly 600-700ms, sometimes goes to 1200-1500ms. 1. I had a seperate faster connection for online play but I was just saying that when I played with that connection on mmorpg games,it wasnt really that bad.
2. my connection is not shared by anyone
3. modem : Huawei SmartAX MT882
4. what is line speed? mod is adsl2+ but i have tried others too and most of them decreased my SNR🙁

downstream SNR : 23.0dB attenuation : 20.0dB
upstream SNR: 24.2dB attenuation : 9.0dB
