Not receiving two step verification SMS from Gmail and Twitter

I upgraded my phone from Kitkat to Lollipop and downgraded again. But after both, I stopped receiving two step verification SMS from Gmail and Twitter, though I am receiving them fine from Windows Live. At first I thought that the problem might be related to my phone settings, but when I read up on the internet I found out that both Google and Twitter send SMS from a short code number and mobile providers disable SMS from short code numbers, and this might be the problem (though it was working fine before I upgraded, so I'm not sure).

I read that you have to ask your mobile service provider to enable SMS from short code numbers. and this could be one possible solution. Has anyone else faced faced this problem? Has anyone called up Vodafone to ask them to enable short code SMS? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Call up vodafone and ask them.

I guess it's not related to SMS from short code numbers, because I successfully got an SMS from Tata Sky 56633 number. But I'll still call up Vodafone and ask them. Thanks.
