Hello everyone,
I have a problem-something I can't find the answer to even after searching the internet. I have pppoe connection which used to work fine in both PCs until some time ago, when I got the modem replaced. The new modem is Nokia Siemens Networks C2110.
I use two computers:
My PC runs on Windows XP while my laptop runs on windows 8. My problem lies in connecting to the internet with the PC. I can still connect with the laptop.
When I try to connect to the internet using my PC, I get the following error:
Error 678: The remote computer does not respond.
Using the same modem and connection wires, I can connect to the internet when I use the Laptop.
LEDs: Power, PC/USB and Link are steady. After I reset the modem, it began to work in bridge mose, so Data became steady as well.
When I use the PC, I can't even go to 192.168.1.1 and access modem configuration. But when I ping to the same address (using PC), I get the following result:
ping 192.168.1.1:
Pinging 192.168.1.1 for 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time

Try
telnet 192.168.1.1
or try a Linux live cd on the PC to rule out an issue with your XP install.
