Hi, There are many laptops with 14 inch or 15 inch displays. But 15 inch monitors on desktops are usable with a 800x600 resolution whereas the minimum standard resolution nowadays is 1024x768 (fonts look too tiny to read on 15 inch desktop monitors with this resolution). The 14 or 15 inch laptops claim of higher resolutions than 1024x768, but I wonder whether fonts look tiny at these resolutions on them too? Do we have to end up using an 800x600 resolution on them too to make things readable? Laptop users, kindly tell.Thanks.

More resolution in small display = High quality image.

high resolution means more pixels fit on the screen so you get more screenspace. this also means everything becomes smaller and you mess up with your eye. i am talking about a 14" display. stick to 800x600 or 1024x800.

You need to understand the fact that a higher resolution gives you more screen real estate and hence the ability to display more things on screen at the same time. It is not just shrinking the images. Coming to your question. Yes, at 1024x768 res, the fonts will look tinier than at 800x600. What you need to do is to increase the DPI setting of your monitor in Windows. Make it 125% from 100% and that should make the fonts bigger without compromising on the resolution. So, it’s just a software setting that can be changed and you don’t have to worry about the laptop that you get.

1024x768 = normal resolution on 14 / 15 inches 1280x1024 = normal resolution on 17 inches

1366*768 on 14.1" seems fine to me .
