If Nokia has this Chat app, not sure where does Skype fits in. I though MS was trying to make Skype default Chat app.

To be fair, Nokia cannot rely on Microsoft for everything. They have to think about the times when they might have to ditch Windows Phone platform. Look at Samsung, even though they sell Android devices, they have a whole range of products and services with their own branding that can come handy if they eventually decide to give up on Android.
Skype is unlikely to come to Nokia Asha devices right? Nokia Chat with its uniform branding can probably come to Nokia Asha if it is not there already.
