I am talking about normal people who dont have much technical knowledge. They would anytime choose Nokia over Xiamoi, in offline market.

yup. Nokia seems to be doing extremely well in retail sector from what i am hearing. they were supposedly the fourth largest smartphone company in india in september as per one report. though it is kind of hard to believe as samsung, xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo should logically be the top four.

This Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo handsets are mostly owned by young crowd, while people who are less technical or of age groups above 40/50 tend to go with Samsung brand. I have seen many people using Samsung smartphones which are never advertised (like On brand or Grand) while travelling by bus. Even many cab drivers, delivery boys have Samsung phones even if those are 3-4 year old. All these people were at one time Nokia users, who shifted to Samsung. Once low cost Nokias are available, and available easily offline, many of these user would turn from Samsung to Nokia. And don't forget China factor associated with Chinese brand. Now I know every electronic device is actually build in China.

true. i am sort of disappointed that Nokia is still charging a premium for their phones. i get it... build quality is great on these phones. but consumers in this segment does not seek a great unibody aluminum phone. they want more hardware for their money. but then, it's great to see one company not compromising on quality to keep the price low 😛
