so the freaks are continuing with same number series to add to the confusion?

plus they could have switched to usb-c for all their phones. including these.

anyhow. microusb is still better than a proprietary charger. plus it's safe.

MicroUSB is good, as now even many other feature phones (e.g. Samsung) has that. USB-C may have raised price I guess. Besides USB-C still has many different versions/cables by different OEMs so it may not helped in using 1-for-all charger.
Regarding design and numbering, I think that might be typical Nokia convention which Nokia users are familiar with, hence neither Microsoft nor HMD wants to change.
 
Nokia has offered microusb for many years on their feature phones now. and it is likely that they would be using usb-c on their android smartphones. in 2016 2017, it makes perfect sense to stick to one single charging standard even if it costs a bit more. plus it would expand the availability of branded usb-c chargers in the country.
 
in any case, the phone looks like a leftover of the microsoft era. does not look like something created from scratch.
