Plan: MTNL 8MBPS ADSL

We are staying in Andheri West, Mumbai - no internet connection since the last 5 days.
(MTNL is not helping us because we are not using their modem)

The ADSL light it constant but the "internet light" is off.

Would anybody be so kind and check if something is wrong with our configuration?
We are using the TP-Link TD-8816 Modem Router --> TP-Link WDR 3600 Router.

System Log Excerpt:

Try bridge mode to know if its PPPoE settings problem or MTNL problem.

Unfortunately i dont have much of a knowhow about internet connection and protocols etc. that's why i need your help.

What i have done now is, i have clicked on the TD8816 under "Encapsulation" ISP: Bridge Mode.
Then i went into the config of the WDR3600 Router under "Network" WAN: PPoE/RussiaPPoE filled in user name and password and tried to connect. Still no "Internet as well as no light on the TD8816 which indicates "Internet Connection".

Besides the above mentioned i have plugged in (just to test a direct connection with the modem) my PC directly into the TD8816 and used the PPoE with username/password and unfortuantely no success...

If the ADSL light is on that means there is a stable connection right?

Anything else i can test out as i have no clue if its an issue on my side or they are messed up again.

I am not used to all these issues as in other countries where i lived you just put down username and password and you can surf away... So i am not sure whats "normal" here...

Your help is highly appreciated!

Search bridged mode for your modem on Google. Instructions vary from modem to modem.

If you are lucky - first try searching for MTNL mumbai bridged mode for your modem. May be you will ready instructions for MTNL mumbai

In bridged mode instead of modem connecting to MTNL, your PC/laptop connects to MTNL.

@Sawyer

r u able to login into ur mtnl account?

register.mtnl.net.in

Just to verify if the username/pwd is valid and working...

I did it! No bridging necessary.

The username and password was right as well

Apparently there was a mistake in the VPI: i set it from 1 to 0 and i have changed the MTU from 1480 (default) to 1492

I found these settings in the previous router which has broken LAN sockets (that was the reason why we switched to the TD8816) or so - it was unreachable and it jsut worked out for 5 minutes so i could check the settings... maybe jesus?

I am sorry if i have wasted anyone's time - i am eternally happy that it works out now!

Thanks everyone for your time!
