Net Disconects If Idle for long time

I am in in Home 500 plan. Issue is if the internet if left idle for say abt 20 mins(say i am off the computer or doing nothing) then the internet gets disconnected. This is very irritating as i cannot go to sleep without setting an alarm in my download manager. The download would not start as by 2:00am the connection would have disconnected. Is there a setting in my modem that can be tweaked to fix this Please help
 
Mention your modem model/make.How you connect? "dialer" mode or "Always On"Are you using any scheduler for download during NU?Check this utility.Imran's broadband help.
 
maybe putting on a ping to google.com would help...

just try this...

open command prompt through cmd in run.
and run this command...

ping google.com -t
 
If you are on bridged mode than check for PPP Idle time in ur network connectionIf on PPPoE mode then check for same in ur modem.
