My budget is 1500 to 2200 but the signal strength should be nice . I don't want a router for storage purpose . I might get a ps4 in future. Priority is to have a router with great strength as I have a two story house.

The access point of TP-Link is not a standalone router right ? I think this is more like a range extender

Yes, standalone router can be used with any connection. If connection is DSL, you'll need additional modem, that's it.
