didn't find where to put this junk info, using this section.
My main laptop, Compaq CQ42 series, which I use as extended desktop got fried yesterday night.
It was working fine, and all I did was the weekly Ccleaner cleaning, and rebooted,
The reboot didn't went through as mouse still had power, so long pressed power button, didn't worked out
so pulled off the battery,
It never came back.
Dissembled to check and found somehow motherboard went dead.
RAM, HDD, Optical drive everthing is ok, but it won't power ON.
Gave to mother board repairing center today, and he was shocked when e saw I ripped off each of the parts.
he was asking me to bring all parts but I managed and he will be repairing it, hopefully.

It's the only center in my town with "Advanced BGA Machine" something to do with chip level I think.

Have to use netbook till then, but I hate using anything below 14 inch.

Enjoy the operation Laptop pics........

Got the laptop mother board back after repair, the repair guy didn't disclosed what part he replaced.
He also didn't assembled it, as i took all parts in bag (Jhola) he was shocked since my last visit.
Came back and spent a hour fixing it up, and its working fine since last 4-5 hours.
However noticed Only one error ' whenever I reboot, BIOS shows warning that "product info missing"
seems some flash was replaced or re-flashed.
Closely examing the motherboard I cannot find out what part was replaced, so it might be the trade secret
total amount paid for repair Rs.1000/-

Above are pics of Compaq Presario CQ 42, 227TU, after motherboard repair.

sorry for late update and reply.
He didn't assembled cause he wanted the laptop to deposited in whole, and I took only motherboard and screen along 🙂
Seems he changed the Blown BIOS itself.
BIOS shows a "HP" logo while earlier it was a "COMPAQ" logo.
I've not disassembled it since It started working.
I am using it since almost a week and apart from warning at boot I see no other issue.
however next time this laptop goes down, I would try to get a new one and stay connected for a couple of years with least worry about breakdowns.

Damn! My laptop also has a major problem. I used to take it apart every other day until i found it was not overheating but some bios problem.Dell Embedded controller on my laptop is reporting wrong temperature of a "GPU" that i don't recognize ! Haha I already have ATI mobility card in it. I don't know where this second GPU came from. no I GP UP in it.It somehow shuts down at 106c! Minimum temp 88c !!! Laptop is cool as cucumber!
