But, why is it (linking to a third party) against the law ?

it's a lame threat. i assume that the article on TW was a paid one. i do not really recollect because it was posted long time ago and i had a partner at that time who was posting some paid articles on the blog. i thought i had removed all those crap articles at that time. this one probably survived. they might have suffered from a paid link penalty and are trying to get all those paid articles removed from third party sites on the web. google penalizes both the sites (the site linking and the site being linked to) when they believe that the links are paid in nature. TW of course has suffered a similar penalty long time back killing its rankings and traffic. I guess I am still hurting some other companies keeping the website online. so basically they are threatening me for a campaign that they themselves probably paid for at that point of time. the situation is pretty ironical.
