do you get 5 mbps also in mumbai? i would cancel my reliance netconnect and get mtnl 3g prepaid. it also works in nagpur and pune, right? i also have to go there sometimes.

Mumbai = 2-2.5mbps

Nope...if you even get 2Mbps..consider yourself lucky..trust me people here have trouble getting that...

seems like i will recharge to 1month as well...i think its 200gb first allotment then will be topped up automatically like we had earlier on 4500 6month plan remember volcano?

No. It is truly Unlimited. But speed is 🙁 2-2.5 MBPS is good but when I see people getting 10,15-50 mbps(ofc. on other type of connections) at around similar price zone then I think twice 🙁 😡 :Boy Think:
Would have been good if MTNL had this plan at lower rate around 800-1000(I am having unlimited wired internet @888 from MTNL@2MBPS) AND more validity period per recharge say 3 months. So that I can use this recharge at leisure and not run to MTNL around the end of month for recharge and ofc. more speeds 😛leasantry: 😛layful:
I have 1 question. I have just bought MTNL SIM just for this 3G data usage. So will 3G recharge be enuf to keep SIM validity or I have to keep minimum call recharge also to do as I will not be using this SIM for making any calls? Can we get lifetime validity in MTNL like we have in voda, airtel? If we don't recharge for say 2-3 months(neither data nor calls) after 1 yr what will happen? Let me explain:
1. I have new SIM with basic 90rs recharge whose validity is 1 yr.
2. I recharge or don't recharge with anything more for 1 yr still my SIM will be active.
3. Around end of 1 yr, I recharge with say 3G for say 3-4 months but then stop recharging. Then? If it was lifetime validity then SIM will not be disabled but in this case it will be right? Helpdesk lady says nothing in lifetime validity in MTNL :scared:

loll you can't compare a wired with wireless....wired are supposed to be cheaper than a 3g...if you are getting similar pricings in 3g let us know i would like to see with a speed as you mentioned of 10-15mbs

Yup. But someone couple of pages back remarked Idea, Voda, Airtel do provide around these kinds of speeds(ofc. not Unlimited). But from a logical standpoint think this way...Wireless should be cheaper for them(lets keep license fees etc out of the equation right now since I dont have comparative data with me) as no cables, digging costs needed, same infra can be used as 2G(Towers, Satellites?) can be used for 3G(spectrum will ofc. be different) so overall cost should be lower. I feel just because "3G" sounds wow since it is new, latest, everyone is milking the cow. HSPA+ can go upto 21 mbps and some lucky chaps do get around this in Developed countries and some of the developing as well. If only MTNL expands its capacity for HSPA+ then we can atleast get those kinds of speeds. BTW read recently that MTNL is investing around 400 crores to move to HSPA+.

My context was vis-a-vis MTNL's 1650 Unlimited plan or assuming a very large FUP limit 🙂
