Write to the CMD and EDD. Write to TRAI. I have already done so.
This to the CMD and EDD. No response, understandably:

Dear Sirs,
It is very strange that MTNL is now offering an unlimited 512Kbps DSL connection in Mumbai for Rs 999/- per month while the same costs Delhi subscribers Rs 1,299/-.
The difference in respect of the unlimited 1Mbps connection boggles the mind. A Mumbai subscriber pays only Rs 1,599/- as against a whopping Rs 3,999/- that a Delhi subscriber pays!
How do you explain such glaring anomalies in your pricing structures?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
This to the TRAI:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
MTNL offers the following 'Unlimited Plans' in Mumbai as part of its broadband offering w.e.f 15 August 2009:
1. 512Kbps at Rs 999/- per month
2. 1Mbps at Rs 1,599/- per month
3. 2Mbps at Rs 3,999/- per month.
However the rates for the same plans in Delhi are:
1. 512Kbps at Rs 1,299/- per month - 30% more than the Mumbai rate
2. 1Mbps at Rs 3,999/- per month - 150% more than the Mumbai rate
3. 2Mbps at Rs 8,999/- per month - 125% more than the Mumbai rate.
Mumbai rates are listed at
MTNL Broadband Internet Services Tariff Plans and Delhi rates are all jumbled up at
Broadband.
My emails to the CMD and Executive Director (Delhi) of MTNL have, understandably, not been answered.
Is it MTNL's contention that bringing broadband to Delhi costs it so much more than Mumbai?
And, is this dual pricing allowed under the norms that govern broadband services in the country?
An early response from the TRAI would be highly appreciated. I only hope that this is not to be swept under the catch all 'forbearance' term that is so dear to the TRAI.
