MTNL ADSL Tp-Link 10 hour MTNL/ADSL session but no internet sometimes

[SIZE=10.5pt]Changed the router straight way since I thought my D-Link + ADSL modem from MTNL had got spoilt.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Got new router TP Link[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Nothing happened, still bad internet.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Solution 2.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Called MTNL guys, they bundled the 2 core wire from end to end to - 4 core, they merged the 4 wires each and joint them end to end.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]This was stupid move as this was even worst, as this would not let the ADSL handshake complete and would take ages to even STABLE ADSL Light.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Solution 3[/SIZE][SIZE=10.5pt],[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]After calling 100 time to mtnl and the visit and calling DMG and GM, the LAZY man sitting in the exchange who is the senior most only told me to change the cable from my house to the out side of my home to the next point of connection in the BOX.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Told me he would not do anything untill I change the wire.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]I got the wire changed with CAT 6, not even CAT 5, even better.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Nothing changed, still I have bad sessions. and constant disconnections.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]TP Link PPP LOGS show sessions disconnections [/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]The MTNL [color=#0000FF;]http://register.mtnl.net.in[/color] Site also showed bad sessions.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]So I was sure that I still had a bad line issue and nothing else.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Solutions 4[/SIZE][SIZE=10.5pt].[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Finally I got very angry and I told the idiots to come to my house and then from my house to the next point check it[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]They checked and ... then they took the wire off the small switch where they clip it inside, re cut there the new CAT 6 and the wire which came and joined them together and re pressed them into the clip >> (This did improve little)[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Solution 5[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Then I used the internet for a few days and called them again that there is still issue of sessions disconnections.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Then finally I made them go to the next point of connection, which was just 1 floor below my house, [/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]There was a plastic CAP button in which the 2 wires were joined and they cut off the button and joined the wires directly with TAPE, and DAMMMMM the connection issue was all gone.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Everything was great after that the ADSL and TP Link sessions are perfect 10 hours.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]Solution 6[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]In the middle I also tried to change the ADSL type of connection in modem [/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]G,DMT >>> Annex A >> it gave a good result also, but not perfect.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]ADSL 2 >> also gives better solution better connection if your line is a little bad. your connection improves [/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]ADSL 2 Plus >> only if you have the best line and wiring[/SIZE]
[SIZE=13.5pt]PROBLEM:[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]So now what is left ???????????[/SIZE]

[SIZE=10.5pt]I still have no internet sometimes.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]The sessions does not disconnect but there is no internet sometimes, it goes and comes back. (skype/emails/web/google drive all disconnects and comes back/ google drive does not come back on its own, need to restart )[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]The ADSL light is always on even if there is no internet, so the session is perfect[/SIZE]
[SIZE=10.5pt]The MTNL has 10 hour perfect sessions[/SIZE]

10 hours session? Mine has only 6 hour. Strange!

I have similar problem as you. Even here the session time is 10hrs. Thats the default DHCP lease time set on DSLAM. But while browsing, I get random timeouts on websites and it appears that internet is down. But on hitting refresh, websites start loading again. Then again some website will timeout. @India2020Can you tell me if you are on iP range 182.56.xxx.xxx ?I am on that range and nothing ever fixed problem. I am on VDSL and even ordered a new ZTE VDSL modem from Hongkong.My line is as good as it can be.

Lets see how it goes with the other split box. which is same brand as the one i was using.
So i dont think it would make any difference.

I will try to buy a new ADSL splitter. from market. >> I am not getting ADSL 2 +, I can only get ADSL2 (no plus) splitter.
(I am using adsl splitter which came with TP-Link router)

I just also tried a very old splitter >> which came with the ADSL modem in 2005, That take a very long time to connect but once connected it also gave me 10 hour session.

Anywhere there is their silly box, or joint, avoid using their Button or even the box where they punch the wires.
Try taking out the wire and leave the joint with a TAPE simple... their box are moist with glue material and very sick old gummy

Firstly, thank you for sharing your experience. Ever since I upgraded to the 8 Mbps plans, I have been facing severe disconnections. I seriously don't know how you have been managing 10 hour sessions - My sessions last about 10-20 minutes usually (> 15 sessions for a day).
You mentioned that there was a disconnect 1 floor below your house. Doesn't the wire go directly from your house to the building junction box? Also, it looks like upgrading to an ADSL 2+ Modem made a difference in your case, I will try that once the wiring is sorted out.

First of all........ if ur getting 10Hrs session...... then u hav very good line and connection stability.......
Yes........ there r timeouts like for 1-10sec max inbetwn....... where the router lights dont go off....... but everything gets disconnected........ everyone has tht..... there is very little u can do to avoid tht......
For me it happens maybe once every 1Hr....... or 2Hrs........ tht is normal....... most of the time Skype doesnt even stop...... it just pauses for few secs..... I use skype everyday for atleast 2Hrs........
So wht am saying is...... tht having a timeout for few seconds every few Hrs doesnt qualify as a problem....... and like @Sanket said mostly is cured by 1 Refresh.......
Just look at @enkay...... he doesnt even hav connection stability for 15mins......
Ur router is very good too........ many of us r using TP-Link routers now....... am on W8970..... so basically the same H/W as urs........ same 10Hrs sessions...... and few timeouts of 4-5secs here and there in 1 session.......

I have recently bought another router
D-Link 2750u
Anyways the routers are not at fault
I changed the wire that too is not really at fault.
The main fault is underground of some instability if you have a very high speed internet like 8mbps
After the wire were sorted the 2 mbps would run smoothly.. but now i am on 8mb so whenever is start to use the full speed it may cut.
Rite now i am getting sessions of 10hrs and also 1 or 2 or 7 hrs.
but i also get 10 hr sessions inbetween
The trick is to change the
MTU
and the
MRU / TCP MSS correctly.
1500 is incorrect
currently i am using
MRU/ TCP/MSS 1360
MTU 1492
The line seems to be stable

Yes the internet will drop / or dissappear in between some times but
since the MTU/MRU change it has not been dissappering

i faced the issue with frequent disconnections 4 months ago, it lasted for 2 months , i made 100s of phone calls, sent so many emails, and finally after the senior officer called the local exchange a few times the line men came to fix it. all they needed to do was just peel the wire at the junction box and rejoin it. and it solved the problem.
and there so many people who have to put up with the same attitude from MTNL employees. is there nothing we can do about it? after making thousands of complaints the worse that happens to those people is they are just forced into fixing the problem and no reprimands no punishment.
perhaps this is a wrong place to post this, but we are not a small community and its about time that we should get together and do something about it, instead of accepting it as the way the things work here.

Well....... u see....... even I use to think like this....... but thts how Gov offices or PSU's work....... they will only work as long as u keep pushing them......
Just goto ur nearest xchg and seat there and watch how it functions....... 95% of their talk isnt work related...... plus they wont even ask u why ur seating there for ateast an hr.......

When something like this happens to me I write to the GM/DGM or even the ED in Mumbai, maybe you can do the same in Delhi. 🙂

yes you are right writing to GM/DGM fixes the problem and i've been writing / calling to them.
but i feel the whole system is designed in such a way that the burden is upon us to make them do their job, which they shouldve been doing right in the first place. and even if you spend your precious time and effort to go to higher authorities the best outcome is you get the problem fixed. there is almost never any action taken to correct employees behavior. which makes it an endless cycle. i think we need to be aggressive about the whole situation and make it their burden/obligation to provide the service they are being paid for.

This may not be totally related to the 10-hour session topic - but there is one disadvantage to a 10-hour session.
For example - My last 10 hour session started on 30/06/2014 at 2150 hrs. I had lined up some downloads for the rest of the night as I had some GBs still left. Obviously, modem wasn't restarted at midnight and although my computer shutdown after downloading at 2330 hrs, about 1.6 GB was counted in the session towards the quota of July.
Has anyone here tried automating a midnight restart of the PPPoE connection, directly from the router?
