Kamala, a superhero fan with an imagination--particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel--feels like she doesn't fit in at school and sometimes even at home, that is until she gets superpowers like the heroes she admires.

Ms. Marvel tells the story of teenager Kamela Khan, who was Marvel’s first Muslim character to lead her own series. A Pakistani-American from New Jersey, Khan can change her shape. She is inspired by Captain Marvel

As reported earlier Bisha K. Ali (Four Weddings and A Funeral) has been tapped to serve as showrunner.

It's unclear if Brie Larson's Carol Danvers will be involved with the property or not, though Feige has stated before the Disney+ shows will be very much connected to the MCU films.

This is likely moving to 2022 since, during Disney's ongoing investor call, this was not listed for 2021.

Meet Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Pakistani American from Jersey City. An aspiring artist, an avid gamer, and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, she is a huge fan of the Avengers—Captain Marvel in particular. But Kamala has always struggled to find her place in the world… that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Iman Vellani stars as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel. The series is directed by executive producers Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, with executive producer Bisha K. Ali serving as head writer. Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ in Summer 2022.
