Yes, http://register.mtnl.net.in/ is playing very hard to get. Due to this, can anybody recommend (preferably freeware) network / bandwidth monitoring software, which will not slow down the connection too much? This will avoid the dreaded mtnl site to check what has been one's usage.

hmmm......wot r u saying...?????? it hardly makes any sense

ok if my inference is correct u wnt usage monitor....but i wud say these monitors r not very reliable as the data recorded by them r not very accurate and u wud often notice high discrepancies between the usages shown by mtnl site and ur bandwidth monitor
but still if u want one i wud recommend "online eye" its not freeware and expires after 30 days. Rest is upto u ....whether u buy the license or u know wot ;) ;) ;)

Tha same happens to me 1504 tech told me this is b'coz of 'line problem' & noted my complaint. Rang up 1504 as I could not connect for 17 minutes. They admitted that they had a problem and are working on the 'up gradation'. Incidentally the http://register.mtnl.net.in/ site will be down today 'as work is going on', such hard working guys' :)

I still need some help with the following:What about password changing? For security where all do I need to change the passwords? There does not seem much point in changing the default modem password.

Oh well, thanks for your reply.

MTNL website leads back to ug for modem.

I have browsed this forum and found some people had problems when they changed their passwords. That is why I wanted to make sure where all to change it and why.

I also made reference to http://register.mtnl.net.in site being so slow/not working that I may have a problem changing it.

As I see it:
Password must be changed at http://register.mtnl.net.in, but user should be left as tel. no.
Then it must be changed in connection set-up of modem.
Then modem login password also may be changed.

But what is need? Can anybody take connection?

The login password of modem/router is advised to be changed for security of ur account bec if its left to the default it is prone for easy hack... (Dont ask for procedure to hack now...).Even if the site is giving problems, u can change ur account password whenever its up and running. :)Username will always be ur telephone number and u cannot change it because thats the way MTNL identifies u and bills u accordingly...
