A friend is looking for an ADSL Modem/Router Combo.

TP-Link has 4 modems.
8961N
8961ND
8960N
8968

Which one is good?

I've been using 8961ND since 2013 and it's been good. But, you should buy 8968 because it also has EWAN and a USB port.

There are way too many complaints on 8968 regarding its Wifi Range.

8961 for Broadcom chipset. 8968 for EWAN and USB.

I've been using 8968 for quite a while now, without issues.

8968 is a good device indeed.

The wifi coverage is affected by various factors.one has to do a littke hit and trial to find best coverage and place holder spot to place router. If you have large house or multiple floors, then buy an extender and get required coverage. Best place to install extender, where you get more than 50% signal.

Just ordered TP-Link w8968 myself today from Amazon, got it at 1449 as well, which i think is a decent deal.

NOOOOOO. This router does not even remember custom DNS you enter into it after reboot!
