Lan And Usb IN THE SAME PC

😛Due to not getting connection for few days i called my AMC computer
mechanic (instead of BSNL helpline who never attends) and the person started my Internet in a very strange way.

He simultaneously connected The lan line and USB line in my pc , reinstalled both USB driver and LAN card and told me not to disconnect USB line but connect always by Lan line. If i disconnect the USB line My pc cannot connect the internet. But i am connecting through LAN (so far i understand)
Both the lights of LAN and USB are on always in my modem.


Though I am getting good connection after that , I believe this setting has some fault in it as i have read in bsnl site using two USB and LAN at same time in the modem and in one pc may harm the modem.

I use Win98 SE
Modem white SmartaxMt882
Plan 900 unlimited

No Dns address or anything set in Tcp/Ip of the Lan card or in tcp/ip setting of the modem.

Don't use both LAN and USB. Use either one.

🙂 Uninstalled USB driver and opened the USB cable.Lots of conflicts were coming from the USB driver. Now i can use the LAN CABLE ONLY successfully. Can some1 tell me how to set and what to set in the above boxes ?? PICTURES pasted.Where actually my LAN card settings are located?? Is it in CONTROL PANEL- SYSTEM- DEVICE MANAGER????? or where???I see no modem installed (never found) when i click on the modem icon in controll panel ;can u say why?Is it actually not a real modem???

Lan card settings mostly located in control panel - network connections(if there is one in win 98, not sure,been a long long time since i've used it)..you can insert 192.168.1.3 as ip address in the tcp/ip settings.. and for primary and secondary servers use this - 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

Beware , if you completely followed the process in the link I provided ,switch off the modem when you are not using internet because you are using PPPoE method.

No i have opened and kept USB cable in the box.I'll set another computer pentium iv this week and try to connect that.

Can you recommend the best Pentium 4 assembley within price 25,000.
Is this SATA motherboard is good?? My AMC man is tryiong to sell me one.
I am strongly against anything other than original pentium.
switch off the modem when you are not using internet because you are using PPPoE method.
I always switch it off when not using because my modem MT882 is a real Hotplate. One can toast a bread on it.

I went to the network icon in controll panel and did the following setting for

Subnetmask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.1.1
Primary dns 61.0.0.5
Additional 61.1.96.69
61.1.96.71

WHAT is the HOST NAME?? Is It "BSNL" ???

And then i made settings for my Dial up Tcp/ip settings as
Ip address 192.168.1.10
Primary dns 208.67.222.222
Secondary dns 208.67.220.220



Restarted and running fine.Let me continue.

I am using one pc so right now not using Multiuser settings
as goin to http://192.168.1.1 etc

Go for second opinion ! I won't depend on advice by the
Engineer who insisted that both USB and LAN should be connected to Single computer at all times !. Ask him reason/s.

🙁AGAIN problem.BSNL Closed for 1.5 full day.I wasnot being able to connect then i changed my address Ip address 192.168.1.10 to Ip address 192.168.1.100And could connect. Do you always chage your IP addresses to get a connection? Is there a list of IP addresse anywhere ??

Thanks but i think this is WINDOWS XP setting you have mentioned 61.0.0.5 /61.1.96.69 /61.1.96.71 are these only delhi? I use these in calcuttaand runs fine.
