In Pune Tata Sky Bb seems to have a very small presence especially compared to Airtel Fiber and Jio. Lco's run the show here

@Yatch they're quite well entrenched in east Pune along with You Broadband. Airtel is the new comer here.

@Yatch both my BB connections are directly from the company. No LCOs here.

@Chip I am unable to DM you, but could you please ping 8.8.8.8/ 15.184.0.253/ 95.177.160.5 on both Tata and Airtel? Since you are also from Pune.

500 mbps is a good move. There should be more plans between 300mbps and 1gbps from all the providers. I would prefer to take a 500 or maybe 750 mbps plan if it were to be made available because usually on 1gbps you probably only get 850 to 950 mbps speed.
Yes 500 makes sense. Also, most AC routers max out at 550Mbps on a 866Mbps link speed.

4ms pings to 1.1.1.1 is very nice

Please do "tracert 1.1.1.1"

Edit: Ah you are from Pune, makes sense since 1.1.1.1 is routed through Mumbai on TATA now.

@ Chip thanks for taking time posting results for Tata Sky BB. Could you also do the tests using Airtel fiber?
I am getting similar pings with LCO using TATA backbone. With JioFiber my pings are just ridiculously bad.

@JB701 here you go

tracert 1.1.1.1

Tracing route to one.one.one.one [1.1.1.1]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 3 ms 1 ms 3 ms 100.72.32.1
2 4 ms 4 ms 2 ms one.one.one.one [1.1.1.1]

I get an average of a 2 ms ping time to this DNS. It is fast.

@JB701 yes, Tata Sky BB is an avatar of the old VSNL and has it has major gateways in western India primarily Mumbai. So subscribers in this part of the country probably get the best response times.

@Yatch this is via Airtel

@Chip Thanks for the results. How about 15.184.0.253/ 95.177.160.5 on Airtel? These ping results are atleast 4-5 times better than the ones I get on JioFiber

@Yatch which part of Pune are you located and what ISP's you have available to you?

@vishalrao I stay in Chandna Nagar, and right now only Jio Fiber, Microscan, Mutiny. But based on the ping results I could request LCO's to use gateway for Airtel Backbone.
