there is a long discussion on this on reddit. first this is a proof of concept. technology improves with time and so on. at this stage itself, it is capable of controlling carbon emissions that would take a forest cover 1000 times the size of the factory. you have to start somewhere. and work on various angles if you want to control climate change.
But the technology is too expensive. And it would take a very long time for it to mature and be less expensive - the time we don't have.
