Dish Tv is charging Rs. 150 for it , is it legal?

If it is FTA then why dish tv is charging for this channel , is is legal? It was included in base package for first 1-2 years when dish tv started their service.

Even if channel TV5 is free, if DISH TV wish to charge it Rs 150, we can't do much for it I guess. After all its their "Terms and Conditions" which we follow when we "buy" their service. For same reason they do charge small amount when they provide DD channels.Besides TV5 channel may not have big demand in Indian market, so its niche channel with limited audience which is therefore charged more, same like "Ten Golf" channel.

Right SVKDD channels free hai par dth walo ko kuch kharch aata hai jab wo unke satellite pe lete hai aur usi kharch ka return aur kuchh unka profit aise wo charges lagate hai par reasonable lagate hai.

Are there any regulations for how maximum they can charge for single channel? Can we launch complain about this to TRAI?

no. there is no such ceiling. Moreover TV5 and Ten Golf are exclusively available on Dish on DTH. So they are entitled to a premium on it. As SVK mentions, you have signed the agreement that allows them to charge you for any sort of package. Only way to get them reduce the prices is if some other provider starts carrying it.Ten Golf i believe is available on Hathway too. But they also have settled for the 200 bucks price tag. Moreover, all operators have to carry DD channels by government regulation. What they charge you is to continue watching their services. When you stop recharging, you will end up losing services which includes each and every channel they carry irrespective of DD/FTA/Paid channels. Thats the logic.

all alacarte service pages mention DD and FTA channels as Rs. 0. But there is nothing to stop them from charging alacarte on a particular channel.Hope that explains it.
