Only one page in the BSNL site mentions that. Anybody seen any Ad or talked with any BSNL personnel about the service allowing unlimited data transfer till 30th June? I saw a (silly) Advt. from BSNL in todays paper which says that Rs. 500 off if one applies for broadband before 31st March. The fine print says that "if CPE installed by the customer himself". But that was the case earlier too, I guess. So after 31st March they would charge Rs.500 for installation anyway!

This is the reason I don't trust BSNL. They are not widely advertising unlimited access till 30th June in media although this could help them rope in a lot of new subscribers. SO I'm really afraid that they would send me a huge bill. I already downloaded 2 GB in 4 days. One favourable point is that the BSNL DataOne Portal at http://10.240.43.216/webLogin.jsp does not show the data transferred yet. So, maybe they are not monitoring data transfer yet..but who knows?

hulo,

They stated that clearly in their original print advertis€m€nts many times. Plus their official tarrif clearly states that:

http://www.bsnl.co.in/newsdetailed.php?news_id=185

Tariff for ADSL Broadband Services DATAONE announced

"As a special incentive to customers, to come forward and take up/ test the service, for both Home and Business plans, additional usage charges (Rs/MB) for the use will not be levied up to 30th June, 2005 for the customers who join the service before 31st March, 2005. "

If BSNL does not offer an unlimited plan by June 30th ditch BSNL for Airtel or Reliance, if they offer service in your area.

Thanks a lot!!! I am going to purchase a new HDD now :DSince TRAI cut the bandwidth charges by 70% after BSNL announced their service charges, I don't see any reason why BSNL should not announce an unlimited transfer scheme after 30th June.

The unlimited transfers only depend on the reduction in the domestic bandwidth prices.Till that happens, noone in BSNL is willing to admit to that. Wait and watch.Thats what I am doing right now.

i think they would have to have some kind of unlimited plan to survive in the market. what we have to wait for is the pricing..

Downloader's Log:

Station - Calcutta. Downloaded 15GB from 19th March till 3rd April. Got 250 to 256 Kbps consistent download speed and 64 Kbps upload speed. No outage. Very happy with the service. Making hay while the sun shines - that would be till 30th June. :D
