In THIS thread, skoka123 has said "HDMI can be with or without HDCP. Thankfully on the TS box HDCP is not enabled."

I am planning to get a TV tuner with HDMI-input for capturing 1080i video.

Can anybody, or skoka123 himself, please confirm that in Tata Sky+ HDMI-out does not have HDCP...

Please advise...

@skoka123: Maybe, you have recorded from the HDMI input before Mar-2012. After Mar-2012, can you please confirm whether your TV Tuner can input *unencrypted* HDMI stream from Tata Sky?I am also looking forward to buy the Hauppauge Colossus 1414 TV Tuner Card. Please advise...

should mention here... this forum is not like twitter or facebook. when you mention a user's name, he does not get an alert. so he probably has no idea you are talking to him here.

Its really skoka123 whose answer I want... although others' views are just as welcome.I tried to find a way of PM-ing him, I searched the site everywhere, but couldn't find the link. Please forgive me.@mhsabir, I am not being given access to the link you have provided. Is there any other way I can send a message to skoka123 on this site?

buy hdfury and start recording ...

That is interesting. Did a google search on HDFury, it says that it filters out the HDCP blockage and can output analog signals.

But eBay India and Amazon returned no results. How I can buy it and from where? Kindly advise.

@INDIANBOY123: Thanks, I've been there just a minute ago...But, what version of HDFury and what package will I require... The huge choice of packages is slightly confusing. Kindly help.I have purchased a Tata Sky PLUS HD box last month. I want to convert the HDMI feed from the STB into Component (YPbPr). That's all. No more. I also have all the required cables with me, so I don't require any cables. Please, which package did YOU buy and how much did it cost you?

Thanks a lot. You have posted the closest solution to what I had in mind.I will try and buy it and maybe post my results here.

For the past two days, I have been thoroughly scouring through the HDFury website, trying to make most sense before splurging such serious money on them.

My conclusion is that for 2D content, HDFury v3 is the real deal, rather than the newer v4 (aka 3DFury).

Why? I'll mention it in as much detail as I understand:

1.) As far as the critical issue in our case, HDCP, is concerned both HDFury 3 and HDFury 4 supports HDCP v1.1 only.
2.) As far as ANALOG output is concerned, both versions are identical in Audio and Video.
3.) However, HDFury3 supports HDMI v1.3, while HDFury4 supports HDMI v1.4.

Consider that Tata Sky+'s digital output is HDMI v1.4. Now, the only major difference between HDMI v1.3 and v1.4 is that the latter supports 3D content.

HDMI v1.4 is also backwards compatible with v1.3, so no problem with the cables. HDFury3 will work with TataSky+ digicomp because the 2D content will remain same irrespective of whether HDMI v1.3 is used or v1.4.

Also, many have voiced that HDFury4 has issues with HDCP protection now that they are a member of the HDCP family, therefore there is a threat that HDFury 4 may be more useless, at least in 2D space.

Therefore, I have decided to go with HDFury3. Wish me some luck!

As a side note, the price of HDFury3 is humongous. For a package 2x2 sq. inches, it costs the same $ as the Hauppauge HD-PVR! !Wow!

The tata sky HD is contect protected.
but the tv tuner card requires that all the devices in a sequence are hdcp compliance

for further info please send a message.
