I do it all the time with users who visit on this blog. to check which one are sify guys themselves. their ips are a bit different from ours.

Which IP did you check? Internal Private IP or external Network IP?
For example, my external IP shows as 210.214.120.109. You can get this by visiting one of the sites like www.dslreports.com.
