how to activate wireless connection

I am having bsnl broadband connection for my pc .My modem is sterlite smartax MT841 with Huwei wireless adapter.Still I am unble to activate the wireless connection for my Ipod and wi-fi enabled mobile.please help me to solve this problem.

Do you use a laptop and get wifi mode working ?
In modem
(1)Change over to "PPPoE" Always On mode and enter your USERID/PW in wan page.
(2) Enable DHCP and give a range say 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.10
Apply Save reboot.
(3)Check ssid appears in Ipod etc.
(4)try without any security key.
(5)If any "whitelist" option seen in router disable it.
