how can I make uploading limited to few gigs?

I mean dont want to be guy who does hit and run on d/l but thae thing is my speeds are really high ( 32mbps+) and I dont want to upload too much like recently i d/led about 4 gigs in 20 minutes and uploaded 45 + gigsI want to contribute but I want to limit the total thats gets up, how do i control it ? is there any command with which I can tell client to stop upping once it reaches to 8 gigs ( for 4 gig d/l?) any body care to help here please ?also I am getting only 32 or so Mbps on 100 Mbps plan what I do correct this ?
 
depending on your client .. you can set it to stop seeding when the DL/UL ratio reaches a particular limit ..
 
yeap. 20% of your download speed should be fine as upload speed limit in the torrent client.
