Home 500C vs 250 plan

Hi,
I am a resident of Ghaziabad, UP.

BSNL has just connected my broadband and i had applied for Home 500 C plan.

They have given me SL2_141 Siemens Wireless Type-II ADSL Modem.

Today at around 12:30PM i switched on the wireless modem and connected to Dataone through my laptop.

I tried to download skype from FileHippo.com - Download Free Software. The download speed i got was around 30-35kBps i.e. 240-280kbps.

My father at Bareilly, UP has the 250 plan from BSNL.

When i downloaded the same file there i got speed of 120-150kBps i.e. 960-1200kbps. He is using Type I modem.

I want to know why is this difference of speed is there ?

Is it because i am using Wi-Fi and he is using it directly ?

I have read some one saying that 250 plan has higher speed than Home Combo plans like Home 500 C and Home 500C+. Is it true ?

Both 500C and Home 250 have same speed i.e. 256 kbps to 2mbps.
 
Well, Ur speeds r less..u shud be getting around 1.8 Mbps..why dont u call them and complain..And yes, dont test speeds on sites like filehippo.com since their servers are on full load always and u wont get nice speeds...check ur speed in speedtest website and post ur result here
 
try a different file form a Famous Server like Microsoft .net frame work its about 25 mb or Sdk Jun Serevr they to have high speeds
