Indiantelevision.com > News Headlines > 120 players sold at Hockey India League auction

Like the IPL, some players went for much more than their base price while others were unsold. Midfielder Sardar Singh made the most money of $78,000 (Rs 42,90,000) from Delhi WaveRiders. Uttar Pradesh Wizards bought drag-flicker V R Raghunath for $76,000. This was more than five times his base price. He expressed surprise at getting such a good deal.

Australian Jamie Dwyer was bought by Jaypee Punjab Warriors for $60,000. German Mortiz Fuertse was bought by Ranchi Rhinos for $75,500 and Teun Nooijer by Uttar Pradesh Wizards for $66,000.Not everybody hit the jackpot though. Sandeep Singh was bought by Mumbai Magicians for his base price of $27,800 (Rs.15,29,000). Like the IPL past performances matter. Bharat Chetri who led India in their poor run at the Olympics was not picked.

They should get higher prices from next edition. Hopefully it will not meet the fate of PHL (premier hockey league)

All 9 Pakistan players to return from Hockey India League- Hockey- IBNLive

The nine Pakistan players here to play in the Hockey India League (HIL) will play no further part in the inaugural season of the lucrative tournament and return home, Hockey India General Secretary Dr Narendra Batra confirmed on Tuesday, after protests against their participation in the wake of killing of Indian soldiers at the LOC.

"Hockey India and Pakistan Hockey Federation have made this decision due to the extraordinary situation and to protect the players.... all franchises [will] be allowed to exercise their right to replace players," Batra said putting an end to the speculation surrounding the participation of Pakistan players in the HIL.

Rashid Mehmood, Fareed Ahmed, Imran Butt and Mohammad Tauseeq (Mumbai Magicians), Sayeed Kashif Shah (Jaypee Punjab Warriors), Mohammed Rizwan Jr and Mohammed Rizwan Sr (Delhi Wave Riders) and Muhammed Irfan and Shafqat Rasool (Ranchi Rhinos) will all pack their bags and return to Pakistan.

lol.. Like I said before "A Hockey Discussion Thread" was ideal. A whole tournament goes without much posts on it.
