Help with my internet setup

Hey guys i have a Netgear WGR614v6 router and the UT300R2U dsl modem.Earlier this setup of mine was connected in such a way that i could control my dsl modem through my modem(ie. i could get new ip by disconnecting the session through the router only...Ther was no need to switch off the dsl modem physically).But somedays back a pc guy came to house and he changed this setup entirely... Now i'm not able to do that.... Instead now i've to physically turn off and get the new ip... This setup of mine is placed in one room and my pc is in another...So It's getting real hard for me to everytime move from here and restart the modem... I'm not able to get the previous setting which i had.I download a lot of stuff from link-removed and use a downloader which could auto-connect, to get new ip....But after this changes that doesn't seem to work.... So please help me out guys.... please...
 
are you able to access both the Netgear and the ut300r2u by ip address?? or only one of them? or none?
