I do not know what difference does this registration make . Even after searching a little this still does not make much sense. Why is this option available for cards across banks? Does it disable the OTP method used for payments ?

I thought it was mandatory?

i think registration is mandatory for online shopping? and pin code is mandatory for offline shopping.

This has been mandatory by RBI for online shopping in India. This is applied only for sites in India.

For example, Indian sites like Amazon & flipkart require secure code or verified by visa password, but international sites like Alibaba or dx.com don't require this password.

I mean it is got to do nothing as OTP IS MANDATORY FOR ALL SHOPPING NOW

OTP is not mandatory for my corporation card.

My hdfc has option to enter either VerifiedByVisa password or OTP while checking out. My canera bank also doesn't require OTP password.

Just registered my credit card for verified by visa. Still this seems more of an hassle then an security feature. Also contacted the Bank CC turns out there is no maximum limit for spending, there is an maximum credit limit but no maximum spending limit which is absurd.

whenever i pay online i get redirected to a page where i have to enter mastercard securecode. So are they doing away with that thing and bringing in OTP instead???

depends upon the bank. stanchart disabled password when they introduced otp. now if their sms servers are down, i cannot shop online.

I want to shop on my sister's card due to bank exclusive offers but I cant if she's in office and only OTP option is available.

Best thing would be to offer both options and let customer choose ---exactly what HDFC does.
