Giving details of the scheme, Khattar said these family identity cards, once prepared, would not only ensure automatic delivery of his government's various citizen-centric social security services to all beneficiaries but also check corruption.
Haryana in January had announced its decision to prepare 14-digit unique identity cards for all the families - both joint and nuclear - living in the state. The scheme was initially meant for SC/ST and backward families but was later expanded to cover all families.
Sources said the Khattar government felt the need for these ID cards while planning pension schemes for farmers, unorganised farm labourers and those associated with farming.
