Hello Folks,

I would like to write a Guide on doing so.. I have found many people having this question when they try to google around.

I will try to make this guide as simple as possible.

1. Unbox your Router. Netgear WGR614v9 in my case.
2. Power the router A/C.
3. At the back of the router you can see one WAN or Ethernet Port and 4 LAN Ports. The WAN Port is usually Orange in color.
4. You will find a Wire in the boxing. Connect it to one of the LAN port and plug it into your Computer's LAN port.
5. Once done, set your Computer's LAN Card to Automatically assign IP addresses. You will get an IP in the Range.. 192.168.1.X.
6. Plug your Sify Broadband Cable in the WAN (Orange Port) of your Router.

Setting up the Router.
1. You need to go to the router config page. Point your browser to http://192.168.1.1 or http://routerlogin.net
2. Default ID/Pass is admin, password. However it depends upon your model. Just lookover the back of the Device or try to google with the Model Number.
3. Once you are in the Admin Page, Click on Basic Settings, It should look like this.

4. Once you are in this page, you need to enter the Sify IP addresses in the Router.
* Select No for Internet Connection Login
* Click on Use Static IP Address.
* Enter your Sify Broadband IP address and Gateway.
* Once done, Scroll down click on Use These DNS Servers and enter your Sify DNS Servers there.
* Go to Start -> CMD. Type ipconfig/all. Make a note of your Adapters MAC Address. Select the Use this MAC Address option in the Router Admin Page. Enter the MAC Address that you have noted in the Command Prompt. Its recommended to do this step properly to avoid MAC related issues.

Your Router is Set. Now you need to Security Enable. This is the important part because people often keep stealing bandwidth.
* Go to the Wireless Setup Option in the Router Admin.

* The SSID is the Network Name. The name that your Wifi Network will have.
* You can select the Location and the Type of Wifi that you want to use.
* You can change the channel if you find interference(optional)
* In security options select WPA-PSK.
* Enter an 8 digit password and press Apply.

Once you are done, your Router is ready to use. On your PC, just use the Sify Dialer to login as usual. Once you login, you can connect another PC to your router either by LAN port or Wifi. Your new Device will be assigned an IP in the range 192.168.1.X. You can continue to browse Internet on all the systems. You just need to keep the Router ON. Once logged in, you can browse for an entire day until you get logged out automatically.

You can also check for more options in the Router Admin page like Firewall and Portforwarding Stuff.

This Guide can be used to setup any type of Cable Internet. Its quite simple and really really fun to use it.

If you have any questions, you can post it here. I will try my best to help you out!
