I recently happened to 'test' this one of the Hindi pages and was very impressed that they have special handling for idioms. Let me find the text and post it here

Woulda been cool if it auto detected the language in the image.Still quite useful to many 🙂
 

the new update actually lets you use your camera to scan text in the real world. i did not post about because i was going through the west wing marathon.

• Translate Chinese, Japanese, and Korean by recognizing text with your Camera (horizontal text only, for now).
• Recognize handwriting in more languages:
Afrikaans, Croatian, Czech, Icelandic, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Slovak, Slovenian, Ukrainian, Welsh

i do not think so. i have not tried it so cannot really say. have no use for it 🙂

but i assume it uses goggles tech to take a photo, scan it, ocr it, translate it, then show you the result.

That's what I was telling actually. You have posted this on August 10th. I did not find anything different or new in the latest version.
 
looks like it. i did read about the update on my g+ stream so i am not sure what exactly changed 😀
