Hard to understand ...why would they do this ??They have a big focus on docs ....i hope some alternate solution coming soon ....else this might be a stumbling block

they killed google labs recently. which had a feature that was used by this function in spreadsheets. a lot of people are annoyed by the killing of services that were available through labs.

they killed labs because some of the features were unprofitable ....and some were just not being used by many (as much as they would have liked)Google lookup does not fall in either - docs desperately needs it and it is being used by millions. If they want enterprises/companies to migrate to google apps/docs - they have to bring lookup feature back and that too VERY SOON

they killed labs coz larry page decided that google was doing too much shit and they need to focus on bigger shit. 😀 they would probably kill some more services in the future. that is for sure. they have taken some unpopular steps in the recent times that are not making a lot of third party developers happy. google app engine and google translate api are going to cost money. it was bound to happen but no one expected it to happen so soon and at the prices google is charging for them.
