Google Play Store Updates

That said, some developers have given us feedback on how we can make the user experience for installing another app store on their device even better. In response to that feedback, we will be making changes in Android 12 (next year’s Android release) to make it even easier for people to use other app stores on their devices while being careful not to compromise the safety measures Android has in place. We are designing all this now and look forward to sharing more in the future!
We’ve always required developers who distribute their apps on Play to use Google Play’s billing system if they offer in-app purchases of digital goods, and pay a service fee from a percentage of the purchase. To be clear, this policy is only applicable to less than 3% of developers with apps on Google Play. We only collect a service fee if the developer charges users to download their app or they sell in-app digital items, and we think that is fair. Not only does this approach allow us to continuously reinvest in the platform, this business model aligns our success directly with the success of developers.

Agreed... Been using it for quite sometime. They really know how to mess up things, especially when nobody asks for it.

In place of one rating for an entire app, which can come in a variety of forms and levels of relative goodness depending on the device, Google plans to break things down with specific ratings for the country your device is registered in and specific ratings for the form factor of the device you’re using to browse the Play Store.

Google plans on rolling out the country-specific ratings this November and form factor-specific ratings in 2022 (for tablets, foldables, Chrome OS, Wear OS, or Android Auto).

Google Play tests removing the 'last updated' section from app listings

User reports have started to pile up on Reddit, pointing out that the "last updated" section, typically found in the app's description, was missing from listings entirely. We've seen this behavior on some of our own devices, and on others the changelog and app description have vanished as well. We haven't observed any of this behavior on the web version of the Google Play Store — only on the Android app.

Google Play is making it maddeningly difficult to tell what's new with your favorite apps

Several reports on Reddit, along with tips from our readers, have found that the "last updated" date has once again disappeared on the Play Store. Simultaneously, the What's New section for each app — which shows a changelog provided by the developer — is also gone for some users, leaving a generic "No information" message in its place.

For the time being, it seems like the web version of the Play Store has yet to be changed.

Have noticed. Glad to know I am not alone.
