When I ordered the Pixel 2, I was not much concerned about the missing audio port because I do not really listen to music on the phone itself. The adapter was fine for me and it served it purpose for the last six months or so.
But today it failed. Just like that. Stopped working. Cleaned up the ports, tried everything. It does not work. The adapter itself seems to be fine as it worked on my Chromebook. But it no longer works on the phone.
Pinged a friend who also has a Pixel 2. Borrowed his cable. And it works! So the problem is definitely not my phone’s hardware or the Android P beta software.
This cable does not seem to be on sale in India. Third party adapters have terrible reputation. I ended up ordering a Bluetooth earphone set. Not really what I wanted. But that’s what I am forced to do for now.
Would call Google’s customer care number tomorrow and see if I can get a new cable through them. Seems unlikely.
