Personally I always wondered that why no website is objecting to "View Image"

Because it takes away their revenue.

So from that point of view - its acceptable move.

It's not. Because one single website should not dictate policy. Download button should be available for images that doesn't have clearly mentioned commercial usage limitation. Or they could just added support for a meta tag for publishers.

I mean this update doesn't remove the right click > download option so the whole thing is just idiotic.

turns out they have also removed the search similar image feature. which breaks a much more useful functionality.

also turns out that this is probably part of a lawsuit settlement. getty is calling it a partnership. which is not accurate.
