Google Gboard

May we GIF you a suggestion? Emojis and more on Gboard

Starting today for all Android users, Gboard will use AI to suggest GIFs, emoji and stickers to you related to your conversation. This makes it faster and easier to share your #feelings and your glowing personality with whoever you’re chatting with. Keep your eyes peeled for the “GIF” icon to appear in the top left corner of Gboard. Tap it, and you’ll see a selection of GIFs, emoji and stickers that Gboard thinks you might want to share.

Google AI Blog: An All-Neural On-Device Speech Recognizer

Today, we're happy to announce the rollout of an end-to-end, all-neural, on-device speech recognizer to power speech input in Gboard. In our recent paper, "Streaming End-to-End Speech Recognition for Mobile Devices", we present a model trained using RNN transducer (RNN-T) technology that is compact enough to reside on a phone. This means no more network latency or spottiness — the new recognizer is always available, even when you are offline. The model works at the character level, so that as you speak, it outputs words character-by-character, just as if someone was typing out what you say in real-time, and exactly as you'd expect from a keyboard dictation system.

I generally type using swiping, and for the lats three four days it's not even able to type simple words like "how're", it's simply becoming a pain.

Is anyone facing issues with Gboard lately?

Along with other emoji approved by Unicode, these 117 new emoji will be available with the release of Android 11 in the fall.

and they still cannot add newer emojis on older android builds. people with 3/4/5 year old Apple devices would get them. as for emojis. i think microsoft's worse. samsung's worst.
