When Casting a tab to a remote device, enabling this turns on an optimization that forwards the content bitstream directly to the remote device when a video is fullscreened.

omg they took this long just to bitstream the video straight on to CC without the need of the PC to do all the dirty work of encoding and send it over network.

bit streaming video to CC works in Dev/Canary Chrome.

works on all streams except Amazon.com or primevideo. is it due to DRM?

got it working on Amazon Prime, trick is to play a video/cast/fullscreen for 'Media Remote' to kick-in.

yep..best part is it even works on Anime hosted on link-removed Server. with this I'm retiring my Kodi

enable 'Media Remoting during Cast Tab Mirroring' and 'Media Remoting during Cast Tab Mirroring: Encrypted content too

it works on stable build too but for good measure update to dev build Version 60.0.3080.6/

close all the tabs, open a video stream(which doesn't have native CC support) and select 'Cast a tab' from Cast, now go fullscreen in your PC, wait for 3-5s for the remote function to kick-in,
Chrome stream on PC will go blank but you will have video controls whist the video bitstreams on CC.

Thanks. I was trying it on stable version of chrome. I think the key is the dev version.

We need to let it stream first and then do the cast a tab(and make it full screen)? Or cast a tab, stream now and make it fullscreen will also work?

yep. this is what I do.

Tried with Canary build and stable build which is on version 58. It didn't work. I am trying to cast to Mi Android TV box which has built in Cast support.

Unfortunately, not working on dev build too for me.

even with CC this feature still only works on Windows/Chromebook so it would some take time to trickle down to Mi boxes and other OS/devices.
however you could ask around Mi forum on how you could change the device id to show itself as 'CC' when it broadcasts so a handshake for media remote could take place.
